Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group

 

 

The Phononic and Photonic Nanostructures Group (P2N) is headed by Prof Dr C M Sotomayor Torres. The group will be fully installed at ICN in the first half of 2008. In the meantime its activities take place at University College Cork, Tyndall National Institute(1). The P2N started its research activities based on the current research portfolio of Prof Sotomayor Torres with a new focus on phonon engineering, while consolidating selected activities in nanophotonics and nanofabrication.

Objectives

The mission of the P2N group is to establish a strong research area at ICN and CIN2 defined by the trilogy of interacting photons, phonons and electrons as state variables underpinned by research in nanofabrication.
